Chad Zehms, MD Joins BayCare Clinic Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

BayCare Clinic Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Chad Zehms, MD, to its team of orthopedic specialists. Dr. Zehms brings a unique blend of local familiarity, military discipline, and advanced sports medicine training to his role, enhancing the clinic’s ability to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

A native of Green Bay, Dr. Zehms was born at St. Vincent’s and spent most of his life in the area, aside from his time serving in the U.S. Navy. His early experiences as a runner and patient shaped his interest in orthopedics. Initially considering a career in physical therapy, he was inspired by the compassionate care he received from local surgeons and ultimately chose to pursue orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Zehms earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He then joined the Navy and completed his orthopedic residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia. Following his residency, he advanced his training with a fellowship in sports medicine at the Steadman Philippon Clinic in Vail, Colorado, a leading institution known for its innovation in orthopedic research and surgical techniques.

His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive procedures and advanced techniques for treating injuries of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He remains committed to continuous learning, regularly attending conferences and collaborating with medical device vendors to stay current with the latest surgical advancements. His goal is to help patients recover more quickly and return to their active lifestyles with confidence.

Dr. Zehms is known for his energetic and empathetic approach to patient care. He listens closely to his patients and works collaboratively to develop treatment plans that align with their goals. Whether treating traumatic injuries or helping athletes return to competition, he finds great fulfillment in seeing patients heal and resume their daily lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Zehms enjoys running, hunting with his brother, and spending time with his wife. His decision to join BayCare Clinic was driven by a desire to work with a team that shares his values and commitment to excellence. He is excited to be back in Green Bay and looks forward to making a positive impact in the community he calls home.
