Field House Friday: Dr. Ryan Woods Shares How Regenerative Medicine Helps the Body Heal Itself

In a recent Field House Friday segment on FOX 11, Dr. Ryan Woods explained how regenerative medicine—also called Orthobiologics—helps the body to heal itself.

These treatments are used for tendon injuries, arthritis, and sports-related conditions, offering alternatives when surgery or medication is not preferred. They work by injecting the body’s own cells at the injury site to promote healing.

Two main options are available: Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC). Both are minimally invasive; clinic-based procedures performed under ultrasound guidance for accuracy.

A consultation determines candidacy, and physical therapy usually begins about two weeks after treatment. Regenerative medicine is part of a broader rehab and pain-management strategy.
