Oral and maxillofacial surgery can correct a number of problems, injuries, diseases and defects.

Many of the procedures our oral and maxillofacial surgeons perform may be covered first by medical insurance, with dental insurance covering some as well. The treatment needed and how your medical and dental plans are designed determine the coverage.
Oral surgeries that are typically covered by medical insurance:
- Trauma to the face and oral cavity
- Treatment of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder
- Correction of facial deformities
- Facial bone diseases
- Impacted wisdom teeth
- Biopsies of the oral cavity
We ask for both your medical and dental insurance information because we are contracted with a number of policies and plans. These contracts allow us to submit claims so our patients pay less out of pocket. We try to maximize the insurance benefits received by patients.
It can take six to eight weeks for some insurance companies to respond about pre-authorization. We encourage patients to call their insurance carrier to expedite the process.
